Tai Chi Chuan

Tai chi, which originated in China as a martial art, is a mind-body practice in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Tai chi is sometimes referred to as "moving meditation"—practitioners move their bodies slowly, gently, and with awareness, while breathing deeply.

No experience is necessary and all ages are welcome. This class will introduce qi gong (breathing), taiji walking exercise, and movements from the Yang-style 24-step form. Be comfortable — wear loose pants and shirt. Keep in mind tai chi builds your body awareness because it asks you to consciously move your eyes, hands, arms, waist, and legs all at once — no easy task! Don't let yourself get frustrated, just try to get a hang of what you can.

Here is a link to what the Mayo Clinic has to say about the health benefits of Tai Chi.

Here is a good example of the 24-step form on YouTube and an illustrated diagram of the 24-step postures.
